Big Pebble Beach
Buyuk Çakıl Plaj / Big Pebble Beach, Kas:
Just the other side of Kas (to the east) is a secluded beach and rocky cove which is excellent for swimming and snorkling. As it’s name implies (Buyuk Çakıl in Turkish) it’s a pebble beach, which makes it a bit uncomfortable getting in and out of the water. On the other hand, the lack of sand and silt means the water is exceptionally clear, so very good for snorkling. It’s also good for sunbathing as there are plenty of sunbeds belonging to the restaurant nearby which also has showers and toilets.
Just up the road from the beach is the start of a well-marked one hour walk through olive groves and maquis (it’s part of the Lycian Way) to the Liman Ağzı beach and restaurant. Details of that are given on a separate entry.
Gallery: These photos were taken before the tourist season when there weren’t many people around. It’s rather more lively in summer.
