Winter weather is fairly unpredictable from year to year. Some years there is very little rain, other years storms and rain are frequent. But even in the wettest winters, there are always plenty of sunny, clear days.

Welcome to The Lycian Shore, a website about the Tekke Peninsula of south western Turkey - the area known in ancient times as Lycia. The site takes it title from a book of the same name by the distinguished English travel writer Freya Stark who travelled through the area in the 1950s. A great writer and intrepid traveller, Freya Stark had this to say about Lycia:
"There are not so many places left where magic reigns without interruption and of all those I know, the coast of Lycia was the most magical."
Much has changed since the 1950s, but the magic remains.
