Lycian cliff tombs at Liman Agzi

Welcome to The Lycian Shore, a website about the Tekke Peninsula of south western Turkey - the area known in ancient times as Lycia. The site takes it title from a book of the same name by the distinguished English travel writer Freya Stark who travelled through the area in the 1950s. A great writer and intrepid traveller, Freya Stark had this to say about Lycia: "There are not so many places left where magic reigns without interruption and of all those I know, the coast of Lycia was the most magical." Much has changed since the 1950s, but the magic remains.
